Colleen Jones Green, 53, of Columbus, entered into eternal life Sunday, November 15, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Colleen was born November 14, 1956 in Columbus and was a graduate of North High School. She was a lifelong resident with the exception of a short move to Oklahoma. Colleen spent most of her time volunteering for different events at the Nazarene Towers, where she had many friends and acquaintances. Preceded in death by her father Robert Lee Jones and brother Michael Jones. Colleen is survived by her loving mother, Margaret “Peggy” Jones; son, Ricky Terry; daughter, Carla Bush; sisters, Barbara Stasko and Marilyn Bush; nephews, Corey and David Bush and Adam Abram; and special friend, Dale Yates. Colleen was a devoted friend to all she knew and was the kind of friend that everyone came to for advice. I woke up this morning and came straight to the computer to look this up.

For the 2nd time in three years I am looking at an obituary for one of my parents.

That numbs me.

What is worse is that every time I say that to someone, I feel guilty about the condolences they offer because I was not very close to my mom due to circumstances and decisions that were made in our lives.

Last time I talked to her was a couple of months ago.

Today I just ask that you keep the names in that obituary above in your thoughts and prayers.

Mix the sausage with the mix.

I am just saying.

They played this song at the wedding reception and all I could picture the entire time was this clip.

This weekend Joy and I had the honor and privilege to be in my brother in law Wade’s wedding.

It was a beautiful and spectacular gala and definitely a day to hold onto with memories forever.

In these moments, I find some of my greatest inspiration for writing.

Here are some things I pondered while standing at the alter during the ceremony:

“I wish I could send a message on Twitter right now about Twittering at the alter.”

“If my stomach were a just a little bit trimmer, it wouldn’t be so dang hard to keep my hands held together in front of me.”

“That carpet thing called an “aisle runner” that the bride walks down could really be a lot more interesting if it was made out of bubble wrap.”

“Who exactly was Pachabel and what inspired him to write his song in the key of D.”

“Did I put on my suspender’s too tight?”

“I wish I owned a robe like the pastor. If for nothing else, to say I owned a robe like the pastor.”

“Where does the word ‘pew’ come from and how did it come to be the last name of a skunk from france in a cartoon?”

“My shoes sure are shiny.”

“Great Danes are cool.”

“I like cake.”

Bolt action rifle.

I heard about this in the movie “JFK”.

A young waif in Delaware received an “A” for his Gun Safety Diagram in the 4-H .

Pictures of  a “Common” semi-automatic pistol, pump action shotgun, and bolt-action rifle are all included.

My favorite quote on here is #2.

“Keep safety on until you are ready to shoot. Don’t trust the safety, it could fail.”

Sights and smells found only in certain environments at just the right time of year.

Joy and I walked to the Delaware County Fair sunday afternoon. It blew my mind being a first time visitor.

Starting with the ticket booth woman who sold me my ticket and then a little man in the doorway of the same booth that took my five dollar ticket right back from me. I held it for 7 seconds flat.

Not sure really where I am going with this so I will just say the above turkey leg burned my hand when it was handed to me in just aluminum straight off the grill.

I killed that thing though, while walking all the way home.
